Sidr powder is one of the oldest hair secrets in Moroccan and Middle Eastern beauty. Made from the dried leaves of the sidr (lote) tree, it has been used for generations to wash hair, calm the scalp and keep hair strong and shiny, all without harsh chemicals.

What is sidr powder?

Sidr is a finely ground leaf powder from the Ziziphus spina-christi tree. When mixed with water it becomes a smooth green paste that gently foams and cleanses. Our Organic Sidr Powder is certified organic (USDA and Ecocert) and is 100% sidr leaf, nothing added.

Sidr powder benefits for hair

  • Strengthens: helps reduce breakage and hair fall.
  • Cleanses gently: a natural alternative to shampoo that removes build-up without drying.
  • Soothes the scalp: calms itchy, flaky or sensitive scalps.
  • Volume and shine: adds body and smoothness to dull, tired hair.
  • Supports healthy growth: a healthy, clean scalp is the foundation for stronger, longer-looking hair over time.

How to use sidr powder as a hair wash

  1. Mix 2–3 tablespoons of sidr with warm water, rosemary water (or Orange Blossom Water) until you have a smooth, creamy paste.
  2. Apply to damp hair, focusing on the scalp and roots.
  3. Massage gently for a minute or two, then leave on for 10–15 minutes.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. No shampoo is needed.
  5. Finish with a few drops of Argan Oil on the ends for softness and shine.

Sidr scalp mask for hair growth

For a more intensive weekly treatment, mix sidr with warm water and a few drops of Black Seed Oil or argan oil. Apply to the scalp, cover with a shower cap and leave for 20–30 minutes before rinsing. Use once a week.

Sidr powder for the face

Sidr also makes a gentle, purifying face mask. Mix a teaspoon with rose water, yoghurt or a few drops of argan oil, apply to clean skin avoiding the eye area, leave for 5–8 minutes (don't let it dry) and rinse. Finish with Prickly Pear Seed Oil to nourish. It's the cleansing first step of our Weekly Spa Facial.

Sidr powder for the body

Use sidr as a gentle body cleanser or softening body mask. Mix with water or Orange Blossom Water into a creamy paste, apply to skin in the shower or bath, leave for 5–10 minutes, then rinse.

Sidr or rhassoul for hair?

Use sidr for strength, scalp comfort and shine. Use rhassoul for detox and volume. Many of our customers alternate the two each week. See our rhassoul clay guide.
